Gerry’s G-Base to produce Wild Blue Yonder interactive app featuring Gerry as voice over

Comic book company Noble Transmission is partnering with Gerard Butler’s G-Base production company to produce the Wild Blue Yonder interactive app featuring voice over from the actor, Variety has learned exclusively.

Wild Blue Yonder, a six-issue limited series published by IDW, is set in a post-apocalyptic future where a fighter pilot and her family fight to survive in the skies after radiation has made Earth uninhabitable on the surface. The app will be available in a few months, Noble CEO Austin Harrison said.

Intel is helping the publisher launch the app with its RealSense technology, which enables users to fly fighter jets or characters strapped to jet packs while gesturing at the screen. RealSense Technology allows for head tracking, facial recognition and pulse detection technology.

Noble Transmission was one of the first content partners lined up by Intel last year to use its RealSense 3D camera.

“Wild Blue Yonder is a truly original and distinctive property,” said G-Base President Alan Siegel. “When we first met the brilliant team at Noble Transmission we immediately felt like it was a fit for the G-Base brand. It is an expansive world that we look forward to exploring more. We here at G-Base were wowed by the Intel RealSense Technology and are thrilled to see Wild Blue Yonder come to life in such a dynamic way.”

Harrison said Butler’s performance as the Scram character has a great energy.

“This marriage is realized with Intel RealSense Technology,” he added. “It creates an immersive experience; one that brings comic book content to life like never before.”

Achin Bhowmik, vice president and general manager of the perceptual computing group at Intel., said that the Wild Blue Yonder project pushes the boundaries of immersive and interactive experiences using Intel RealSense Technology.

“It was amazing to hear Gerard Butler voice one of the main characters from the series,” he added. “Mr. Butler’s performance brings new depth to this character, which motivates us at Intel to continue to advance sensing and interaction technologies in new and exciting ways.”

Becozy fell under Gerry’s spell when she watched Phantom of The Opera for the first time in May 2005, while recovering from knee surgery. She was smitten with the Phantom from the moment his face appeared in the mirror, falling in love during the Music of the Night. After searching the internet for information about the actor able to cast such a spell, she discovered Gerard Butler. Her life, and that of her family, hasn’t been the same since. With Gerry as a common bond, becozy has an expanding world of cyber and real friends.  Her family has greeted her new found ‘hobby’ with enthusiasm and her new friends with a warm welcome. Happily, her husband and two (now adult) children share her admiration of Gerry. Her family knows and understands all Gerry references in their correct context. Mention 3AM, camels, or yellow towels, for example and you’ll get a knowing nod! Over ten years later, as much time as possible each day is spent in the care and nurturing of her Addiction. It is a delicate balancing act to fulfill her duties as wife and mom and her duties as a GAL, but one she is determined to master.
