\u201cAvatar\u201d star Sam Worthington is set to join Gerard Butler in Relativity\u2019s heist movie \u201cDen of Thieves,\u201d an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Christian Gudegast will direct from a script he co-wrote with Paul Scheuring. Story follows a notorious crew of bank robbers who target the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Representatives for Relativity and Worthington did not immediately respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n

Mark Canton and Butler\u2019s G-Base producing partner Alan Siegel are teaming with Relativity\u2019s Ryan Kavanaugh and Tucker Tooley to produce the film, which Butler will executive produce with Chris Bender and JC Spink.<\/p>\n

Relativity\u2019s Robbie Brenner will oversee the project on behalf of the studio. The film will begin shooting in January in Los Angeles and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n

Canton recently worked with Worthington on the Jennifer Aniston drama \u201cCake,\u201d in which the Aussie actor played her grieving love interest. Canton is currently in post-production on Lionsgate\u2019s new Vin Diesel tentpole \u201cLast Witch Hunter,\u201d coming out in October.<\/p>\n

Worthington next stars alongside Josh Brolin and Jake Gyllenhaal in Universal\u2019s \u201cEverest,\u201d and he\u2019ll soon be seen opposite Brit Marling in Daniel Barber\u2019s period thriller \u201cThe Keeping Room.\u201d He also recently wrapped Jonathan Mostow\u2019s action-thriller \u201cHunter\u2019s Prayer.\u201dWorthington, who will return to star in James Cameron\u2019s \u201cAvatar\u201d sequels, is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content and attorney Dan Fox.<\/p>\n
